WASTEGROUND INTERACTIVE GAME

Funded through the Merseyside Recycling and Waste Authority, the Eco Centre teaching staff designed and developed educational interactive games to raise awareness of the issues surrounding waste management and the need to reduce the amount of waste that is currently being sent to landfill.

The games were developed based on the following criteria with emphasis on the energy, water and transport footprint of everyday items:

Reduce: Waste minimisation prevents the generation of waste in the first place. This makes it the most preferred method of waste management and goes a long way towards protecting the environment.

Reuse: Needlessly making new products wastes energy and other resources. Reusing products prevents the need for this.

Recycle: Recycling old products into new ones saves raw materials.

The games are available to play in the public area of the Eco Centre and are also an important resource in the development of our topic based education programme with visiting schools.
