Overview

Our Centre was built with innovation to inspire visitors to consider their environment, use of energy, water and mode of transport. Yet, at the same time, we built it to work well as a reception to the park and ride, getting people safely in and out of the town centre.

We wanted this to be a building that many different groups of people would want to use every day of the week and for people to realise that an eco building can work just as well, if not far better, than traditional buildings. Our aim was for everyone to see that the 'green features' incorporated in the Centre could be used in homes, businesses and public buildings just as easily.

Therefore, to make the very best use of our brand new centre we are proud to say that the building contains the following excellent facilities:

• A fully equipped classroom, staffed by a full time qualified teacher.
• A public ‘concourse’ area with interactive educational displays, tourist information and modern toilet facilities.
• A conference facility fitted with modern audio-visual equipment.
• A warm, welcoming coach drivers’ lounge with a shower, comfy chairs, newspapers, kettle, water cooler and microwave.
• A Shopmobility unit where you can hire out scooters, wheelchairs, powerchairs and power assisted chairs. It is open Mon - Fri, from 9.30am to 4.30pm (please call to confirm).
• A hands-on ‘energy’ garden packed with amazing eco friendly features.
