Planning your visit
Most days begin and end with key activities based aroundthe Eco Centre’s unique features including a guided tour, interactive educational displays and an ‘Eco’ quiz using individual handsets (a class list is required in advance for this activity).
Early booking is advisable for all educational days to ensure availability of resources and staff. A group size of 32 (30 for Earth, Sun and Moon day) or less is ideal although larger groups can be
accommodated for some of the days. Although aimed at Years 4, 5 and 6, Key Stage 3 groups are welcome and most ‘menus’ can be easily adapted.
If none of these days suit your needs, tailor-made visits can be arranged for you if you contact the Eco Centre a least a month in advance. The length of a visit is based around the timings you give on your booking form. 9.30am – 2.30pm is ideal if possible. Some days can be reduced to half day sessions on request. Children need packed lunches and coats (seasonal). We do not have a shop. Hot drinks are available free for accompanying adults at break and lunchtimes.
All days are charged at £10 per group per hour for Sefton schools, £25 per group per hour for others. Special reduced rates are offered at the beginning of each academic year. Extra charges will apply for ‘Habitats’ day. The beach/dunes portion of ‘Coastal Management’ day is exempt from charges.
Transport
Wherever possible, we encourage the use of public transport for visits. At certain times of year it is possible to get free ‘Saveaway’ day passes from Christine Murphy at Merseytravel (0151 330 1313). Please note that these are allocated on a first come, first served basis.
If you arrive by coach or minibus, please use Gate B of the bus lane at the front of the
building, marked ‘Schools Entrance’.
